Gary Turnbull

Senior Sound Designer
Gary was born and raised in Yorkshire and has been ploughing the waves in the creative industry for the past 27 years. His career began with the iconic M&S Food campaign, setting the tone for a career filled with bold ideas and memorable work. Over the years, Gary’s talents have earned him numerous accolades, most notably a coveted D&AD Yellow Pencil for his outstanding work on a BBC promo featuring the legendary Sir David Attenborough. Now navigating the rocky waters of a middle age (been there, bought the motorbike), Gary continues to bring his unique blend of experience, creativity, and wit to every project he touches.

James Cobbold

Senior Sound Designer
Music has been a passion James’ entire life. He sat at the piano from an early age and so sowed the seeds for a creative career in the driving seat at the mixing desk. James loves his dance music as much as his classical. He composes and occasionally DJs, and has even managed to land tracks on the odd commercial here and there. A self-confessed petrol head, James also enjoys sitting in cars! And loves the thrill of races and track days. He runs, cycles and enjoys taking part in challenges but has to admit, these are not getting any easier! James has been lucky enough to work as an engineer for various studios in adland for many years now and is absolutely thrilled to take on this next challenge as part of the new team at Grand Central.

Miles Henry

ADR Mixer
Having spent his younger years training as an actor at Italia Conti school, Miles was more surprised than most to find himself captivated by audio during a stint of work experience as a live sound operator at a theatre in Bromley. From that point forward he steered away from a lifetime of thespianism to a degree in Performance Sound at Rose Bruford Drama school. It was a love for theatre that gave him his real appreciation for sound, but post- production really opened up his eyes to the possibilities of audio. It is arguably his artist background that makes Miles one of the most promising emerging sound designer / ADR Mixers today. In October 2022, Miles reached a pivotal moment in his career when he joined the ADR department at Grand Central, where he has worked on many high profile projects such as Supacell, Back to Black, Queenie, Black mirror and The Wheel of Time, where he utilises his skills not only as an engineer but also as an Actor.

Production

Katie Miles

Head of Production
Katie began her production career at St Annes Post, learning the ropes of longform production. The desire to spread her ‘post-production wings’ saw her land at Ogilvy, working in the TV department. Here, she found herself producing commercials for clients including Hellmann’s, Dove, Comfort, Wild Bean Café, and BP to name just a few. After absorbing all the knowledge required to bring TVCs and radio to fruition, Katie’s love of audio, saw her head from Canary Wharf into Soho, to join the team at Grand Central Recording Studios. Katie had an early career as a singer & dancer in a pop band, hence her love of audio, so whenever it came to needing someone to sing or voice a fill-in line during a sound session, she was always keen to help. Following time away to raise a family, the decision was made to return home to Grand Central. Now back in the thick of it, she’s enjoying nothing more than helping the new-look Grand Central reach its full potential.

Natasha Redhead

Senior Audio Producer
Reel to Reels, Digi Betas, Dat Tapes and Natasha Redhead. Old? Obsolete? In Tash's case no. Well, yeah she's getting on, but obsolete? Never! With nearly twenty years in the audio production industry there's still life in the old d.... (she's requested that we don't finish that sentence). Having worked for some of the biggest audio production companies in the business, she has seen the industry change vastly over the years and is excited to be at GC who are far from afraid to evolve with it. Tash is super keen to liaise with you and will give you the same friendly and professional service no matter the size or scale of your project. She looks forward to welcoming you through GC's doors (though you may have to help her back to her seat). That was our last "experience" joke. Tash's bio was sponsored by Cod Liver Oil.... ok, that was the last one!

Mack Harlow

Anyone who knows him will know his love of, and knack for, in person communication. He is an exceptionally warm and open person, which lends itself perfectly to his role of Front of House & Events Manager. With an extensive background in customer service, he intuitively understands what people want and need to get the best and most enjoyable experience out of their time at the studio: be it a light-hearted conversation over a cup of tea as they wait for their ADR session, or partying and socialising with people from across the industry at one of our Rooftop BBQs.
