The Grand Central Story
This year is Grand Central’s 30th anniversary and we are embarking on a new launch in Q4 of 2024. But how did we get here?
Since we first opened our doors on Marshall Street in 1994 with just four studios, we quickly became a favourite in Soho’s commercial scene.
In 2004, we moved to Great Marlborough Street, expanding to six suites. This allowed us to grow our commercial work and venture into ADR, with the added bonus of Dolby Theatrical Cinema mixing capabilities in multiple rooms. We even created a 7th-floor space with a roof terrace for a touch of outdoor relaxation.
Our passion for detail and technical excellence has enabled us to deliver thousands of campaigns. Along the way, we've offered consistent support, transforming projects into award-winning successes.
In 2014, we revamped the 7th floor, turning it into two state-of-the-art sound suites, each with outdoor access and an abundance of natural light.
By 2018, we upgraded Studio 8 from Dolby 7.1 to Dolby Atmos Theatrical, incorporating cutting-edge 3rd order ambisonics to take sound to the next level.
We’re proud of our history of nurturing young talent and promoting from within. It’s been amazing to watch so many of our team flourish, achieving great things both at Grand Central and beyond.
In June 2024, after 30 years in the business, we embarked on a new chapter as Simon Kanjee and David Barrett took the helm, leading Grand Central into an exciting future.
